The theme of this year’s competition is “Political Geography and Geopolitics”, focusing on how the various disciplines within the humanities contribute to understanding international conflicts, territorial disputes, and the influence of global powers.

👉 The official language of the competition is English.
👉 The ISSTC is topic-specific and all high school students (ages 14-18) from any country are eligible to register.
👉  The maximum number of individual participants per school is 4 students. Students from the same school cannot participate as a team.
👉 The fee for participation in the competition is 20 euros per participant.
👉All participants and advisors will receive a certificate of attendance. Certificates of Achievement will be awarded to winning projects and participants.

SCHEDULE

STAGE 1: REGISTRATION
(18 November 2024 – 19 December 2024)

Registration form must be filled out individually for each participant and complete in full.

A separate approval letter written on letterhead from the School Principal or Advisor Teacher must be sent via e-mail after the registration form is filled in. On behalf of students applying from the same school, it is sufficient to send only one approval letter with the names of all participating students by the Advisor Teacher. The subject line of your e-mail should be ‘International Social Sciences Teamwork Competition’.

STAGE 2: FORMATION OF TEAMS
(30 December 2024)

To strengthen the global perspective and international cooperation, the teams will be made up of a mix of students from different countries and different schools participating in the competition.

Following this condition, teams will be formed at random by the Organising Committee. To facilitate simultaneous collaboration, time zones are taken into account while forming teams. Team lists will be notified to all participants simultaneously.

STAGE 3: TEAMWORK
(06 January 2025 – 11 April 2025)

Teams prepare their outputs according to the competition’s main theme within the given time.

A project will be created in response to the question or topic you think is most important. The project could be in the form of a podcast or short film. The podcasts and short films must be at least 60 seconds long and at most 300 seconds long.
When preparing a writing project (essay, letter, short story, dialogue etc.), visuals can be added to support the work. The length of written projects should be around 1500 words.

Every student on the team must be actively involved in the project’s outcome.

Team members are expected to work cooperatively and carry equal workloads. Supervision of this process is the responsibility of advisor teachers. Once this stage is completed, an evaluation of the process will be requested from the mentoring teachers.

STAGE 4: DELIVERY OF TEAMWORK PROJECTS
(14 – 18 April 2025)

Project outcomes should be emailed to the Geography Education Association email address: info@tceder.org

STAGE 5: EVALUATION
(21 April 2025 – 16 May 2025)

Submitted projects will be evaluated according to the criteria established by the Evaluation Committee.

STAGE 6: ANNOUNCEMENT OF RESULTS
(26 May 2025)

The results will be published on the competition website and all participants will be informed by e-mail.

What is the objective of this competition?
This international competition will bring together teams from around the world to collaborate and demonstrate their knowledge, creativity, and problem-solving skills within the fields of geography, history, philosophy, sociology, and other humanities disciplines. The event aims to foster teamwork, critical thinking, and intercultural exchange while highlighting the vital role of the humanities in addressing global challenges.

What are the eligibility criteria for teams?
Teams will be made up of a mix of students from different countries and different schools participating in the competition. When forming teams, care will be taken to ensure that students from the same school are not in the same team unless it is mandatory.

Is there a registration fee?
The fee for participation in the competition is 20 euros per participant. Payment information will be notified to the Advisor Teacher of the registered school by e-mail.

How are winners selected?
Winners are selected based on the evaluation of their teamwork, research, and project outcome by the Evaluation Committee.
